Dear Hollywood Comedy Club valued friend of live local comedy,

Obviously, we have had to put all shows on hold since the outbreak of this awful pandemic, but we felt that it was important now that there has been some easing of restrictions to write to you to let you know what is happening with our comedy club and what this means for future shows.

Firstly, there is the issue of the show we had to postpone at relatively short notice when lockdown began. It is our intention to stage this show as soon as it is demonstrably safe and compliant to do so. Everyone that has bought a ticket to this show (the Barbara Nice headline show) is guaranteed their place in the audience once a date can be confirmed, however, we fully appreciate that any re-arranged date may not suit everyone’s diary, so monies can (and will) either be refunded or rolled over to another show, depending on what you want to happen.

At the current moment though, both myself and Mat are very wary of bringing together large groups of people in an enclosed environment. We certainly do not want to compromise the health, safety and well-being of anyone by hosting a comedy event. Even with measures in place such as social distancing, face coverings, hand sanitising and the like, we don’t feel comfortable in potentially exposing our valued supporters to unnecessary risk, so for the immediate and foreseeable future we will be monitoring the situation and we re-iterate that we will only bring back our comedy club when it is demonstrably safe to do so.

Our comedy club thrives on you being there. An audience that is ‘up’ for a good night of entertainment, that responds and interacts with the comedians performing, that creates an atmosphere and ambience in the room is what makes for an enjoyable experience for all present.

The intimate environment that epitomises a comedy night is not something that can readily happen with the government social distancing restrictions and bubbles that currently exist.

We will be back though!

It is certainly our intention to be with you again and hopefully sooner rather than later.

We know you are a discerning group of folks and know that you understand that this situation is very much outside of our control. We thank you for your patience and understanding at this troubling time and we certainly wish for you and your loved ones to remain safe and well.

With our sincere thanks and very best wishes,

Seán and Mat
